Implenia – young, but with a history
The Batigroup… Implenia's history goes back as far as 1866, when the predecessor companies of the Batigroup were founded. Batigroup itself was formed in 1997, following the merger of three traditional companies, Preiswerk, Stuag and Schmalz. Their three core competencies were general contracting, infrastructure construction and tunnel construction.
…and Zschokke… Conrad Zschokke was founded in 1872. In the decades that followed, it grew organically and through numerous acquisitions to become the Zschokke Group. Its core business ranged from general planning, general and total contracting to engineering, construction works and real-estate services.
…become Implenia. Over a period spanning more than 140 years, the two building groups have realised numerous projects in Switzerland and abroad. The merger of Batigroup and Zschokke to form Implenia in March 2006 resulted in the creation of Switzerland's biggest construction services company: a company that combines the youthful freshness of a new enterprise with the decades of expertise and experience of two traditional company groups. Every day our 5,400-strong workforce is dedicated and committed to meeting the needs of our customers.
