Philip Morris International Rhodanie Camous, Lausanne
World headquarters of Philip Morris International.
Technical complexity combined with masterful and timeless architecture. The new building comprises approximately 160,000 m3, of which more than two thirds are below the natural ground level. This construction, or "extension", allows the existing building in ave. de Cour to be connected to the one in ave. Rhodanie, covering approximately two hundred metres with a height difference of about 20 meters. The visible part of the building actually consists of successive stacked elements, semi-submerged, erected parallel to the slope and connected by a spinal column that links all the office spaces and irrigates the entire complex. Following the natural slope of the terrain, the extension includes 700 parking spaces in its basement, as well as technical installations, a restaurant and computer rooms. The floors primarily contain administrative offices and conference rooms.
